João C. Azevedo

Azevedo is a Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança and a Researcher at Mountain Research Centre and Associate Laboratory for Sustainability and Technology in Mountains Regions in Portugal. He is chair of the IUFRO Landscape Ecology unit, deputy of the IUFRO Division 8 (Forest Environment), and vice-president of the Portuguese Forest Science Society. He is former chair of the Portuguese Landscape Ecology Association (IALE-Portugal) and former member of the Mountain Partnership Steering Committee (UN), Euromontana Board of Directors. His research is directed to forest landscape ecology, sustainability and resilience in forested landscapes, ecosystem services in changing landscapes, and mountain sustainability. João holds a BS degree in Forest Engineering from UTAD, Portugal, and MSc and PhD degrees in Forestry from Texas A&M University, USA.
