Veysel Turan is a Post Doctoral Researcher at Bingöl University, Bingöl, Türkiye. Additionally, he holds a position as an Associated Professor at Department of Soil Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Bingöl University. He obtained his PhD from the HelmholtzZentrum München, Germany and Ataturk University, Türkiye in 2016. He was a visiting Post Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Microbiology, University of Inssbruck, Austria from 2017 to 2018. He was also a DAAD Fellow at Rostock University, Germany for 3 months in 2022. His academic background covers soil science, ecosystem restoration, environmental remediation, and biowaste conversion. His research focuses on the interactions among soil, plant roots, and eco-friendly soil amendments. The application of his research extends to soil carbon sequestration, climate change mitigation, improvement in soil fertility and productivity as well as remediation of contaminated soils. He has experience in the application of biochar to soil, remediation of soil via bio amendments. He is particularly interested in the application of optimized- designer biochars in restoring degraded soil physico-biochemical properties.
